Growing up as an expatriate in Turkey fostered a life-long fascination in me for all things cultural. As a teenager I helped foreigners figure out their way around my hometown, discovering my passion to help people understand and communicate across cultures. Later, as an adult learning how to live, work, and speak in different countries, I experienced first-hand how developing some key skills can foster cross-cultural confidence and competence. Since then I have been passing on these lessons to CEOs, businesspeople, leaders, teachers, and volunteers, through interactive training and consulting on how to work and relate effectively across differences like nationality, race, job function, and generations. At the same time, I raise my own children across cultures—always keeping my eyes and ears open for intriguing cultural incidents and practical ways to help others in their own journeys.
